Web Access

How to log into the IP camera web interface from a browser, change your password on first login, navigate the main menu, view live video, play back recordings, and configure network settings.

Browser Login

Once you know the IP address of the IP camera, you can access it locally or remotely using a browser (Edge or Chrome).

To access locally:

Open your browser and navigate to the camera's IP address, then press Enter.

On first access, the browser may prompt you to install a plugin for full device control. Click Download Plugin (top-right corner) and install it. You can change the interface language using the language selector in the same area.

Enter the default credentials — username admin, password admin — and click Login.

Web interface login screen

First-Login Password Change

On first login the camera will prompt you to change the default password to improve security.

Password too simple — prompt to change password

Click Modify/Edit Now to go to the password change screen immediately, or Modify after 60 Minutes to postpone.

On the Modify user screen, enter your current password in Old Password, then enter a new password in Password and Password Confirm. The password must be 8–31 characters long and contain at least two of the following: numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters, or special characters (~!@#$%^&*_-+=|{}[]:;'<>,.?/).

Modify user — password change form with security questions

Check Do you want to set a new security question and fill in Security Question 1, Answer 1, Security Question 2, and Answer 2 (and optionally a third pair). These questions allow you to recover the password locally without a factory reset.

Click Key Export to save a .hs key file to your computer. This file is an alternative method for local password recovery.

Click Save (or OK) to apply the changes.

Password recovery via physical reset or third-party tools is not possible. Save the password in a safe place. The password can be recovered only using the three security questions or the .hs key file exported during setup. Store this information carefully.

If you forget your password at the login screen, click Forget and select Security Question Validation in the Authentication Mode combo box to reset the password using your three security answers. Alternatively, select Security Key Verification to import the .hs key file.

Note: certain browser/plugin combinations may prevent the web interface from displaying correctly. In that case, try using the CMS software or a different browser.

Main Menu

After logging in, the Main Menu appears. It offers four modules:

  1. Preview — live video view
  2. Playback — recorded footage review and download
  3. Configuration — device settings
  4. Maintenance — system maintenance

Preview (Live View)

Click Preview to open the live video view.

  • Aspect ratio / fit: Click the Aspect ratio selector icon (top area) to switch between 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, or fit-to-window.
  • Stream selection: Click the Stream selector icon to switch between the main stream (M) and sub-stream (S).
  • Playback controls (bottom-left): The icons Block/restart playback, capture video clips or images, and digital zoom buttons let you block or restart playback, capture video clips or still images to your PC, and perform a digital zoom on a selected area (click, hold, and drag to draw a rectangle — the selected area fills the screen).
  • Full screen: Double-click the video area to enter or exit full-screen mode.
  • Image settings (right panel, Image Config): Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, WDR, Mirror/Corridor Mode, and Day/Night Switch.
  • Logout: Click Logout (top-right) to exit the web interface.

The save paths for captured video and images can be configured under Configuration → Local Configuration (the browser must be run with administrator privileges, and the selected folder must have write permissions). The currently logged-in user is displayed at the top right of the interface.

On models with motorized zoom, additional PTZ controls are available. Under Configuration → Image → Image → AFFocus you can choose the autofocus mode (Auto, Semi-Auto, or Manual).

Playback

Click Playback (available on models with an SD card, when the plugin is installed) to access all recordings stored on the SD card and optionally download them to your PC.

Select the date and the time range you want to review.

In the File Type combo box, choose the recording type: Normal Record or Alarm record.

Click Search Search icon. The timeline bar shows recordings colour-coded by type (see the legend below the bar).

Playback screen showing timeline and calendar

Use the Zoom in/out timeline buttons to zoom the timeline in or out (maximum zoom shows a 30-minute window). Drag the timeline left or right while holding the left mouse button to move to the desired start time.

Press Play/Stop to start or stop playback. Additional controls:

  • Slow/fast forward — frame-by-frame reverse / fast forward
  • Screenshot — capture a screenshot to your PC
  • Download — download video for the selected time range (check the clips you want, then click Download)

Downloaded files are saved to the path shown in Save Downloaded Files to under Configuration → Local Configuration. Files are saved in MP4 format; the codec and resolution depend on the camera's stream settings.

During playback, click the Zoom Zoom icon icon (it turns red when active) to enable digital zoom: click, hold, and drag to draw a rectangle — the selected area expands to fill the screen. Double-click to toggle between full-screen and normal view.

Downloading multiple files: After searching, a file list appears showing each recording's start time, end time, and size. Check the files you want to download and click Download.

Playback file download list with checkboxes and Download button

Picture Management: Works the same way as Playback for still images stored on the SD card — select images and copy them to your PC.

Playback requires the browser plugin to be installed. Click Download Plugin at the top of the page and run the installer. Downloaded files are in MP4 format; the codec and resolution reflect the camera's current recording settings.

Write throughput depends on the camera's operating conditions (CPU load). Searching is only possible when playback is not active.

Some menu options may not be available depending on your device model.

Configuration

Click Configuration to access the camera's full settings. Use Playback / Picture Management (on SD-card models) to review or download recordings and images.

After making any change in Configuration, click Save to apply the new settings.

Some menu options may not be available depending on your device model.

The Configuration menu is organised into the following sections:

SectionSub-sections
Local ConfigurationSave paths for video/images and config export
SystemSystem Config, Security
NetworkBasic Setup (TCP/IP, HTTPS, DDNS, FTP, SNMP, QoS, 802.1X, Other), P2P, Email

Local Configuration

Set the folders where the browser saves downloaded video clips and images, and export device configuration parameters (saved to the browser's default download location).

System → System Configuration

  • Time Settings: Configure the time source — NTP server, PC time, manual entry, or NVR sync — and select the time zone.
  • DST: Enable or disable daylight saving time and set the active period.

System → Security

Create and manage user accounts with different access levels. Three user types are available: admin, operator, and viewer.

  • The Viewer account has access to Live View only.
  • The Operator account has access to the full system except certain sections such as Security.
  • The currently logged-in user is always visible in the top-left area of the web interface.

The admin account cannot be deleted or have its privileges restricted — only its password can be changed. If the admin password is lost, access to the system is impossible without the .hs key file or the security question answers set during the initial password change. Store this information carefully.

In Online Users you can see all currently connected users. In Security Service you can configure access restrictions.

Network → TCP/IP

Select the IP/DNS assignment mode for the IP camera (static or DHCP — DHCP is the default). Under Port, change the ports used by the camera: HTTP, HTTPS, RTSP, BitVision, and ONVIF.

For remote access, the relevant ports must be forwarded on the router that controls connectivity to the camera's IP address. In this case, remote clients (app, browser, CMS) must point to the router's public IP address.

Network → HTTPS

Configure HTTPS access for the camera. HTTPS support is currently in beta; no official support is provided.

Network → DDNS

Configure the built-in DDNS client. Supported providers: Oray, Dyn DNS, No-IP, and Planet Easy DNS. DDNS is useful for direct remote access to the camera without a static public IP.

Network → FTP

Use the FTP protocol to upload motion-detection images to an FTP server on a schedule or at set intervals. This feature is controlled from the Events section.

Network → P2P

This section shows the operating status of P2P mode. The connection status must read Online or P2P connection successful. The camera needs TCP/IP properly configured (with a static IP or DHCP) to be able to reach the remote P2P server. Scanning the QR code allows the BitVision app to view the camera remotely without any additional configuration. To disable P2P, uncheck the P2P option.

See App Access for full setup instructions.

Network → Email

Configure the built-in SMTP client to send email notifications (e.g. motion-detection alerts) to up to 3 recipients. Emails can include messages and images, and can be sent on specific days and at set time intervals. Both SSL and TLS authentication are supported. This feature is controlled from the Events section.

Network → SNMP

Configure the SNMP protocol. SNMP support is currently in beta; no official support is provided.

Network → QoS

Configure the DSCP parameter to prioritise specific types of network traffic. Note that the network infrastructure must support this type of prioritisation for the setting to have any effect.

Network → 802.1X

802.1X port-based network access control is currently in the implementation phase.

Network → Other (RTSP)

Uncheck Video Password Authentication to allow RTSP access without authentication.

To view the camera stream via VLC on a PC: open VLC, go to Media → Open Network Stream, and enter rtsp://<IP camera>:554/0 for the main stream or rtsp://<IP camera>:554/1 for the sub-stream, then click Play.

On Android, open VLC, tap the network icon, and enter rtsp://<IP camera>:554/0, then tap Open.

The built-in FTP/SMTP client may not work with some servers. If the problem persists, try a different FTP/SMTP server.
