Network & IP Address

Learn how to access and configure the IP camera over the network, and how to find or change its IP address using the Search Tool.

Network Functions

There are several ways to access and configure the IP camera remotely or locally through the network:

  • [Configure/View] Use the Internet browser (Edge or Chrome with plugin) on Windows. Other browsers are not supported.
  • [View] Use the BitVision app on iPhone, iPad, or Android. See the quick-start guide.
  • [View] Use the CMS software on Windows 7/8/10/11.
  • [Configure/View] Use any compatible NVR. Refer to the NVR's manual.
  • [View] Use an RTSP player (such as VLC).
  • [View] Use a third-party NVR or software with the ONVIF protocol.

This section covers browser-based access. The final section covers direct access via the BitVision app (non-QR-code method).

This manual covers multiple device variants. Some options or features may only be available on specific models.

IP Address

The IP camera ships configured to obtain its IP address via DHCP, with default credentials admin / admin.

You can use the Search Tool utility to discover the IP address assigned to the camera and change it if needed.

Install and launch the Search Tool on a Windows PC connected to the same local network as the camera.

Click Refresh to scan the local network. After a few moments, any detected IP cameras appear in the list with their assigned IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.

Select a camera in the list. The Network Param panel on the right displays its current network settings: IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS, HTTP Port, and RTSP Port.

To change the IP address, uncheck DHCP, enter the desired IP address, then enter the camera's username and password (admin / admin) in the Security Verify section and click Modify. The camera will reboot and apply the new settings.

Once you know the camera's IP address, you can open it in a browser for full configuration. See Web Access for next steps.
