Installation

Step-by-step hardware installation guide for the BitVision Wi-Fi NVR Kit — install the HDD, verify kit operation, adjust antennas, and connect a monitor.

This Wi-Fi NVR Kit requires no cable runs and no network configuration. It uses plug-and-play wireless communication with an automatic password generation mechanism so that monitored video will never be overheard under the default passwords.

Step 1 — Install the HDD

Make sure all power is cut before installing the HDD. Installation tool: Cross (Phillips) screwdriver. Note: Use only a professional-grade hard disk recommended by the supplier.

Unscrew the screws on the back and sides of the chassis and remove the cover.

Connect one end of the hard disk power cable and data cable to the motherboard, and the other ends to the hard disk.

Align the hard disk screw holes to the chassis backplane and tighten the lock screws.

Install the cover and fix it with screws.

Step 2 — Verify the Kit Works

Make sure the NVR video output and monitor input are connected before powering on. Use the matched power supply included in the package to prevent the NVR from malfunctioning or being damaged when the power supply is not working properly.

Connect the NVR to a monitor via the HD or VGA port, then power on all devices. No settings are required — the kit auto-pairs. When all IPC video feeds appear on the display, the device is working normally and can be moved to the installation location in the next step.

The full connection overview is as follows: the Wi-Fi IPCs connect wirelessly to the Wi-Fi NVR; the NVR outputs to a monitor (HD/VGA) or to multiple display monitoring equipment; and the video is also available remotely via internet picture transmission.

Step 3 — Adjust the Antennas

The NVR antenna transmits signals to the surroundings. When the NVR antenna and the IPC antenna are at the same height and parallel to each other, signal quality is best.

If the NVR and IPC cannot be at the same height, the IPC antenna should be tangent to a sphere centred on the NVR (Figure 1, Figure 2-2). Do not let the antenna point directly at the NVR (Figure 2-1); position it as shown in the figures below.

Ideal installation — antennas at the same height (Figure 1):

Cameras and NVR antennas should be horizontal and at the same level, pointing in the same direction, so the signal radiates outward from both sides equally.

Not suggested vs. Suggested (Figures 2-1 and 2-2):

  • Not suggested (2-1): Camera antennas pointing directly at the NVR break through the weakest axis of the antenna's radiation pattern.
  • Suggested (2-2): Camera antennas oriented so they are tangent to an imaginary sphere around the NVR give the strongest signal.
